Pop the Champagne to Celebrate Pantone and DIY!

It has been quite awhile since I posted.  I kind of took a mental holiday break from everything.  Instead of digging myself out of snow, I'm trying to surface out of a pile of catching up which means I have a bunch of content to share with you….all in due time of course.
For starters, I want to go back to about a week and a half ago when a styled shoot I worked on was featured on Style Me Pretty Illinois.  Once again, myself, Jennifer Gaudreau of Jennifer Kathryn Photography and Meghan Andalman of Lovebird Events took on the Pantone color of the year: Emerald Green.  I'm kind of sad to see this one go since it still seems so in season and fresh.  Alas though, I think we paid tribute to this color quite well with our shoot.

Hosted at The Boarding House in their 3rd floor dining room, we couldn't have asked for a better setting and source of inspiration.  From floor to ceiling, myself and the rest of our team used the space as our muse for our individual projects.  I took the wine bottle ceiling and inverted it to create a centerpiece for our table:

Another project I took on was a custom painted table runner.  We decided against the over done chevron and went with a simple wide diagonal charcoal gray stripe.  At the ends I recreated the single letter monogram that was used in several other details.  How appropriate that the letter "L" was chosen too!

You'll have to visit Style Me Pretty Illinois to view the full gallery of images taken by Jennifer Kathryn Photography and to see all of the amazing details our team took on.  Everyone worked so hard:

Crew | Boarding House Chicago: Boarding House | Linens: BBJ Linen | Sweets: Veruca Chocolates

So with one more day left to enjoy this color of 2013, I thought I might inspire you going into the new year with a video on how to cut your own wine bottles like the piece in our shoot:

Maybe you are looking to create a fun centerpiece for a NYE party or are want to get a bit more creative in the new year.  Whatever your motive, I hope you put all of those champagne bottles to good use!

Happy New Year!!!

Behind the Scenes | Canvas Background Color

I'm ready for the weekend and enjoying more time up at my cottage in Wisconsin.  We have our annual golf outing where we all pretend we know how to play the frustrating game but really just look forward to the vodka lemonades and cheese balls.

I've obviously already started Allie and Tom's painting, but I thought I'd back track just a wee bit to give you some insight into my painting process.  I'm digging a little deeper into these first steps and showing things off in another video.

Oh how I dread watching myself, but I thankfully have Bella for some light entertainment (my wince at the beginning of the video is Bella trying to interrupt me).  How many meows do you hear?

D.I.Y. Video | Drab to Fab

My entrepreneurial tendencies were derived from a love of crafts in my early youth.  I know I've mentioned my craft fair organizing as a 9 year old before, but it seems as if I am reverting back to some nostalgic skills.  The crafts always came out on rainy days.  Seeing that we have had above average summer days, my so called "rainy days" have become the days without a painting to work on.  I am currently in-between paintings (the wedding is this weekend for my next one), so I've decided to pick up where I left off 20 years ago and craft.

To me, crafting isn't just about keeping busy, it's about using my skills to make something functional.  I have all of these canisters from tea laying around with various things in them.  For some reason, I just can't throw them away.

Looking drab in my cheery studio, I decided to do something about it and share the wealth too.  I made a video of the transformation.  It's a rather simple project (apes could probably do it), but it's something that could spark a transformation in your life by adding glitter, using glue or just getting a new outfit to bring you from drab to fab.  Enjoy and get ready to see more videos of diy projects and tricks of the trade!

Do you have any DIY projects or tricks of the trade that you'd like me to feature?

Annie and David's Painting Reveal

I had another amazing painting delivery yesterday that I am so glad I was able to catch on camera to share with you.  Annie's reaction was priceless.  David, a rather quiet individual, had the nicest compliments as well.

A saw the wall that this painting will call home and bonded with Annie over a glass of wine.  I think this painting will be quite happy here.

Thank you again Annie and David!!!!  You are such a sweet couple that I look forward to seeing again and again!!!

Reenie Rose Painting Reveil Video

Earlier this week I let another painting go out into the world.  Anna came by to pick up her piece of art, and I decided to try something out....and share it with you.  Though I am terribly embarrassed about videoing myself, I think you may be seeing more videos from me in the future.  Take a look!
